Subject: =CFM= Msgr. Lenihan Retirement Gift Plans Are Progressing...
Greetings to all our CFM Brothers & Sisters
Msgr. Lenihan Retirement Gift Plans Are Progressing...
He knows of the gift and is very excited.
CFM is working out the details on this Very Very Special Gift for our favorite STLM Monsignor - Fr Lenihan.
After all, 50 yrs as a Priest and 21 years serving St. Lawrence Martyr community is quite an accomplishment!
Fr. Lenihan has done so much for the whole Parish community and has very specifically identified and promoted CFM in the past. He has been our strongest supporter. He's gone so far as saying every family should get involved with CFM when they first join the church.
= RE: The Gift Plans =
Fr. Lenihan is a BIG BIG Baseball fan (in case you didn't know).
SO...we plan to send him to the center of the Baseball Universe: Cooperstown, NY Home of the BASEBALL HALL OF FAME. He had specifically said to some close friends and parishioners that when he retired he wanted to go there and visit.
CFM has already presented the concept of our gift to Msgr. Lenihan and together we will be working out the details over the next month(s). Msgr. Lenihan has mentioned many friends & places he may want to visit during this special CFM Retirement gift vacation. He is even talking about driving across the country at a leisurely pace to visit friends and soak up all the USA has to offer. He has many friends all along the way and since he'll be retired he'll have nothing but time!
CFM plans to pick up Travel Expenses, Hotel, Meals, Memberships and entry into the Baseball Museum in Cooperstown, NY. There may even be a few, or several, baseball games he can attend during this vacation. THEN...we want to offer sufficient funds and coordinate an additional side trip to "The City" so he can do more touring and visit St. Patrick's Cathedral.
We have suggested October time frame for the best weather but it's really up to Fr. Lenihan and his schedule. We want it to be a very comfortable, low stress vacation adventure.
$$ Y E S - WE ARE SOLICITING DONATIONS $$
Travel, hotel, meals, etc. add up fast. AND if we are providing a travel partner or a tour guide for the NY part of the trip the costs go up even more! We KNOW the many families in CFM are very generous and truly appreciate what Fr. Lenihan has done for the whole Parish & CFM specifically!
CFM group leaders will be passing out donation envelopes at your April CFM meeting. Donations, of course, are voluntary and we hope that everyone will WANT to get involved.
Money is the simplest way to donate BUT if you also have frequent flyers miles or free hotel nights or anything else that we can use PLEASE let us know.
We do need a lot of assistance and monetary donations to make this work. We hope there will be sufficient money contributed to cover all planned expenses AND include a generous amount of spending money to fund the extra travel he might want to do. We can also purchase an open ended airline ticket or one with a changeable itinerary (if air travel is selected) so that there is no set schedule he must adhere to.
We will have a big card or board so that all CFM families can sign. The big card will be presented to him on or just before his retirement this June.
All who contribute will also be listed by family name on a separate certificate and letter we will present to him.
We are trusting the Holy Spirit to work out the details and help our collections go smoothly. If you have any suggestions, let us know.
God Bless,
Your CFM Section Leaders
Dan & Noreen Thomas and Greg & Brenda Argano
